Wholesale Home Goods and Homeware from China

Home goods sell on look rather than on specification, which makes them easy to photograph and hard to profit from. A cushion cover that photographs identically in three factories can differ in fabric weight, colour fastness and how it survives a wash.

The category also mixes regulation: a mug is food contact ware, a throw is a textile, a candle has its own labelling rules, and a glass vase is mostly a packing problem. Each of those needs a different check.

We buy homeware for importers in Europe and North America, largely through the Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu clusters. Below are the cluster map, realistic factory prices and the checks that decide whether a range sells twice.

Where the home goods factories are

Cluster City Strengths Typical MOQ
Home textiles Nantong (Jiangsu) and Shaoxing (Zhejiang) Bedding, throws, cushions, curtains 500 pieces
Ceramics and tableware Chaozhou (Guangdong) and Dehua (Fujian) Dinnerware, mugs, planters, decorative pieces 1,000 pieces
Glass and metal decor Zibo (Shandong) and Ningbo (Zhejiang) Vases, lanterns, mirrors, candle holders 1,000 pieces
Storage and organisation Taizhou (Zhejiang) and Yiwu Baskets, boxes, shelving, drawer units 1,000 pieces
Candles and fragrance Ningbo (Zhejiang) and Guangzhou Scented candles, reed diffusers, wax melts 1,000 pieces

This cluster follows the material rather than the product. A buyer who wants ceramics, textiles and candles in one shipment is buying from three supply chains, and reducing the number of factories is a trade off against the range rather than a saving.

Glaze and food contact on ceramics

Lead and cadmium release is tested on the finished piece, and a decorated rim is a different test sample from a plain body. Ask for the release test for the item you are buying, in the colourway you are buying, rather than accepting a report for the factory’s standard white glaze.

Textiles carry two sets of rules

In the United States, mattress pads and related bedding fall under flammability rules, and composite wood or upholstered components can carry formaldehyde limits. In the European Union the restrictions sit on the finishes and the dyes. Both are settled by the material choice, not by a promise.

Candles are mostly a labelling problem

Burn time claims, wick type, container heat resistance and the warning text required in each market. A candle that tunnels or cracks its glass is a returns problem, and both are visible in a burn test on production samples.

Breakage is a packing problem

Glass and ceramic need to be drop tested in the inner packing that will actually ship, not in a lined box used for samples. Ask for the drop test result and the carton configuration together, because the two are designed as one thing.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix several home categories in one shipment?

Yes, and it is the usual pattern. Textiles, ceramics and candles arrive at our warehouse in Guangzhou and ship as one load through our consolidation service.

Can you build gift sets across categories?

Yes. A mug, a coaster, a candle and a boxed set can be assembled, labelled and packed as one retail item, and the set is what gets inspected.

Do home goods need testing?

Food contact ware, textiles under flammability rules and candles with a burn time claim do. Decorative items often need less, but the destination market decides, so we confirm per product before quoting.

What is the minimum order?

The factory minimum is in the table above. Our own minimum is one piece, which is enough to test a fabric, a glaze or a scent before you commit to a production run.

Can you check a colour match across several factories?

Yes, and on a range it is worth doing. Send one reference piece, we keep it as the colour standard, and every item from every factory is compared against it before the shipment is loaded. Colour drift between suppliers is the usual reason a collection looks assembled rather than designed. We also photograph the reference piece under fixed light, so the standard is documented rather than remembered and a reorder can be checked against it months later.
