Wholesale Fleece Throws 130 x 160 cm from China
The fleece throw is the impulse buy of the home textile shelf: warm, light, cheap to ship and printed with everything from solids to licensed patterns. It is also the product where the word pilling separates a reorder from a clearance bin, because a throw that balls up after two washes reads as cheap no matter what it cost.

The failures: the surface pills after a few washes because the yarn was short staple on a loom running fast, the edges are overlocked loosely and unravel at the corner, or the printed side fades against the unprinted side within a season.
All three are specification and inspection items. The category context is in our wholesale home goods overview.
Weight, grade and the pilling question
Polar fleece is a knitted polyester, and the two numbers that matter are weight in grams per square metre and the anti pilling grade. Grade is set by the yarn and the finishing; a high weight fleece made from short staple yarn still pills, which is why the grade line matters more than the weight line on a quotation.
Print divides into printed yarn, dyed in the fibre, and surface printing. Solids run both ways; photographic and licensed prints run on transfer or digital. Edge finishing is the third axis: overlocked, whipstitched or a bound blanket stitch, each with a cost and a durability difference at the corner.
Specifications and minimum order
Polyester prices are stable compared with cotton, but finishing and printing set the quote. Fix these points.
| Specification | What to confirm before you order |
|---|---|
| Weight | Grams per square metre, stated per ply if the throw is double sided |
| Grade | Anti pilling grade, named, with the test behind it |
| Yarn dyed, transfer or digital, and the wash fastness | |
| Edge | Overlock, whipstitch or bound edge, with the stitch density |
| Size | Cut size in centimetres with the tolerance |
| Labels | Fibre content and care to the destination market’s rules |
| Minimum order | Set by knitting and print batches; solids carry lower minimums than prints |
Our minimum order is 1 piece, so a washed sample is approved before any production commitment. The production minimum follows the knit and print batches, and we confirm it against your design. Our sourcing service screens the knitting mills and print shops.
Pilling is a yarn decision, not a wash setting
Pilling happens when short fibres work loose from the yarn and ball on the surface. Once the yarn is on the loom, nothing downstream fixes it. That is why the anti pilling grade is a specification line with a test behind it, and why the wash test during inspection is the verification, not the hope.
Edge failure is the second quiet one. A throw unravels from a corner where the overlock was run fast, and the defect appears weeks into use. Stitch density at the edges is a countable thing, which makes it an inspectable thing. Our quality assurance service writes both into the order.
What belongs in the purchase order
- Weight and anti pilling grade, with the test method named
- Print method and wash fastness grade per design
- Edge finish and stitch density
- Cut size with tolerance
- Labels to the destination market’s rules
- Packing: folded, polybag or band, and carton limits
Checks that catch the repeat failures
- Wash and rub. Wash bulk throws, then rub the surface with a soft brush; pilling grade shows in minutes.
- Corner pull. Tug each corner of the bulk edge; loose overlock opens at the corner first.
- Print fastness. Wash and rub a printed panel; transfer prints that skip the fixing step streak.
- Weight check. Weigh bulk throws against the specification; a light throw means a lighter knit.
- Hand feel across cartons. Compare bulk from different cartons; finishing drift shows as a hand difference.
A pre shipment inspection that includes washing catches all five, and our factory inspection service covers knitting mills as a category. For the fuller method, see our pre shipment inspection guide.
Frequently asked questions
Does a higher weight stop pilling?
No. Weight is how much yarn is in the knit; pilling is a staple length and finishing property. A heavy, low grade fleece pills faster than a lighter high grade one. Specify both lines and verify the grade with the wash and rub test. Our minimum order is 1 piece for sampling either grade.
Can we do licensed or photographic prints?
Yes, by transfer or digital printing, with the artwork handling and rights documentation handled on your side. The production minimum follows the print method, and digital carries short runs at a higher unit price.
Why did my last order feel thinner?
Almost always knit weight below the specification, which passes a visual check and fails a scale. Weighing bulk throws during inspection closes that gap for the cost of a minute per carton.
