Consolidating Orders from Several Suppliers into One Shipment

Once an order covers more than one product, it usually covers more than one factory. Three factories means three delivery dates, three sets of documents and three chances for one shipment to be left behind while the others sail. Paying three freight bills on three part loads costs more than paying one on a consolidated shipment.

Consolidation is the fix, and the work sits entirely in the timing and the paperwork rather than in the transport.

How consolidation works

  1. We agree a cut-off date working back from the sailing, and give each factory a delivery date that leaves room for one to run late
  2. Goods arrive at our Guangzhou address, where we count them against each packing list and photograph them as delivered
  3. We check what you asked us to check, and hold everything until the last delivery is in
  4. We load one container, or release a shared load if your volume does not fill one, and prepare the documents for the whole shipment
  5. You receive one set of documents covering every supplier, and one point of contact for the whole thing

Full container or shared load

The three things that go wrong

One factory runs late

It always does, and the cost of waiting is the demurrage and a missed sailing. We set the factory delivery dates backwards from the cut-off, so a late delivery is absorbed inside the plan instead of pushing the whole shipment.

Carton counts do not match the packing list

Cartons get short-shipped, double shipped, or counted differently by two factories. Because every delivery is counted on arrival against its own list, the shortfall is found in Guangzhou rather than at your warehouse.

Documents arrive after the goods

A missing packing list or a wrong consignee name can hold a container at destination for days. We assemble the document set per supplier, check it before the container is sealed, and correct it before it sails.

Frequently asked questions

Do you consolidate goods you did not buy for me?

Yes. Buyers often use a mix of suppliers, some sourced with us and some not. Everything arrives at one address and ships as one shipment.

Can you hold goods while I wait for the rest?

Yes, that is the point of consolidating. Goods wait in our warehouse until the last delivery is in, and we tell you what is already in when a supplier is late.

How do you decide the loading plan?

By weight, fragility and stackability rather than by arrival order. Heavy cartons go on the floor, crush-sensitive goods go on top, and anything you want accessible at destination gets loaded last.

Can you buy small items and add them to the container?

Yes. Small purchases from domestic platforms are a common part of a consolidated shipment, bought through our Alibaba purchasing service.

Tell us what you are shipping and when

Send the supplier list and the deadline. We will come back with a delivery plan for each factory, a loading plan and the cut-off that makes it work.
