Wholesale Plastic Storage Bins with Lids from China
The plastic storage bin is the backbone of the household category: it ships flat-packed or nested, it sells year round, and the supply base around Taizhou and Shantou is the deepest in the world for injection-moulded housewares. That depth is exactly why the category is risky to buy blind, because the same mould drawing can be run in a dozen resin grades and the difference never shows in a product photograph.
Buyers usually meet the failures at home, not in the showroom: a lid that will not snap shut after two weeks, a stack that slews sideways in a warehouse, corners that go brittle in an unheated basement. Every one of those is a resin or mould decision that was made before the first unit was packed.

The cluster map, realistic factory prices and the checks that keep a repeat order repeatable are in our wholesale household products overview.
Resin grade, wall thickness and the lid
Most bins are moulded in polypropylene copolymer, with high density polyethylene used where cold or impact matters. Food contact grades cost more than general purpose resin, and the difference matters the moment a bin is sold as a pantry organiser, because regulators treat it as food contact ware from the day it is marketed that way.
Wall thickness is where cheap quotes come from: shedding two tenths of a millimetre off the panel saves real money per piece and costs you the stacking claim. Lids are a separate part and often a separate mould, which is why lid fit is verified against the actual bin lot, not a golden sample from the mould trial.
Specifications and minimum order
Resin price moves, so live figures come with the quotation. Fix these points before ordering.
| Specification | What to confirm before you order |
|---|---|
| Material | PP copolymer or HDPE, and whether the grade is food contact |
| Capacity | Litres per bin and whether the figure is to the rim or the lid line |
| Wall thickness | Base and side panel thickness in millimetres, measured not stated |
| Lid | Snap fit engagement depth and whether the lid nests upside down |
| Stacking load | Kilograms per filled bin for the stack height you will sell |
| Packing | Nested count per carton and the carton size for your freight plan |
The stacking claim is a real number
A bin that stacks five high empty will not stack five high full, and retail buyers know it. Confirm the stacking load with filled units at the top of the claimed stack, held for a day, and record the temperature because polypropylene softens measurably in a summer warehouse. This is a five minute test on the bulk lot and it settles arguments before they start. For the wider inspection routine, see our factory inspection service.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order?
Stock colours run from around 1,000 pieces across mixed sizes; a custom colour is a resin lot commitment and a higher minimum. Our minimum order is 1 piece for sampling either route.
Can I order a small run of custom colours?
Yes, with a colour match against a Pantone reference and a resin lot minimum, typically 2,000 to 3,000 pieces across a size set.
What fails first on a cheap bin?
The lid tabs, then the base corners. Both are visible on bulk units within minutes of a stack test.
