Write the denier and the coating, not just the color
Polyester and nylon both come in weights from 210D to 1680D, with or without PU coating, and the spread in cost is wide. Put the denier, the coating and the base fabric in the spec, then ask for a fabric swatch card with the bulk order. A bag quoted on a photo is a bag you have not bought yet.
Test zippers and handles on the sample you keep
Run the zipper fifty times, load the bag to double its rated weight and carry it around the factory. Track sliders, split teeth and stitch pull-out at the handle anchor are the three failures that generate claims. All three take ten minutes to find on a sample and weeks to argue about afterwards.
Where the negotiation room is
Hardware finish, lining material and print method move the price more than the shell fabric. Chromium-free hardware, a printed rather than woven label, and a lighter lining are the standard levers. Ask for a price at two hardware grades and decide which one your market actually needs.
Quality risks specific to this category

rPET fabric is widely available and costs 8% to 15% more than virgin polyester at the same denier. Ask for the GRS certificate if you intend to advertise recycled content, because without it the claim is not defensible.
