Checks that catch the repeat failures
- XRF on bulk. Read a sample of bulk rings; content substitution shows as numbers immediately.
- Stone tap and nail test. Work each stone; mechanical settings hold, glue lifts.
- Hallmark legibility. Check the marks on bulk rings under a loupe; faint or wrong marks are a legal problem, not a cosmetic one.
- Size verification. Measure bulk rings on a mandrel across the size run.
- Tarnish check. Wear or bag a bulk ring for a week against the plated sample; the anti tarnish step shows or it does not.
