Wholesale Trolley Cases from China
A trolley case is judged in the first ten metres of an airport floor. The shell is what buyers notice, but the parts that decide whether a container of luggage becomes a repeat order are the wheels, the telescopic handle and the zip. Those are also the three parts that change quietly between the approved sample and the bulk lot.
The photograph shows a representative case from the category. Shell colour, wheel style and trim follow the approved sample, and the image is illustrative rather than a picture of your goods.
We have sourced hard shell and soft sided luggage out of the Guangdong and Zhejiang clusters since 2019. The same failures return. A shell sold as polycarbonate arrives blended with ABS and flexes under a knee. A spinner wheel rated for a load is fitted with a lighter bearing that develops a wobble within a month. And a zip that closed cleanly on the sample catches on the tape once the shell tolerances drift.
This page covers what the shell and component words mean, what belongs on the order sheet, and the checks that catch a weak lot. The factory towns behind the category are in our wholesale bags and luggage overview.
Shell, frame and the parts that fail first
The shell material is the headline specification and the easiest one to bluff. Polycarbonate flexes and springs back, ABS is stiffer and cracks under hard impact, and blends sit between the two at a price that suits neither. Because the difference shows only under stress, buyers who care name the grade and ask for a panel to be pressed and released at inspection.
The frame and the trolley system carry the load. A telescopic handle is a set of tubes, a locking mechanism and a housing, and each of those can be built to a weight rating or built to a price. The honest check is physical: extend the handle fully, load the case, and push it along a hard floor for a hundred metres.
The wheels are where a cheap case announces itself. Spinner wheels take the whole load at an angle, so bearing quality and wheel diameter matter more than the shell does. A wheel that wobbles or squeaks on a tiled floor on day one will be a complaint within a month.
The zip is the quiet failure. A case packed tight loads the zip along its full length, and a zip that was fine on an empty sample can split at the corner once the shell is full and the tolerances have moved.
Specifications and minimum order
Our minimum order is 1 piece, so you can start with a single unit and scale up once the sample is approved. Every line below changes what the factory builds. We do not print prices or schedules here, because shell resin and hardware inputs move; send us the sizes, the shell type and the quantity, and we come back with a live quotation and a firm production slot.
| Specification | What to confirm before you order |
|---|---|
| Shell material | the grade named in writing, verifiable by a press test on a bulk sample |
| Shell finish | textured, gloss or matte, and how it resists scuffing in transit |
| Trolley system | tube stages, locking mechanism and the load the handle must carry |
| Wheels | spinner or inline, wheel diameter, bearing quality and noise |
| Zip and lock | zip grade, plus the lock type and any destination customs seal |
| Interior | lining, dividers, straps and the packing volume quoted in litres |
| Pedido mínimo | stated per size and per colour, since shells are moulded in runs |
Minimums in hard shell luggage are driven by the mould, which is why a single size across a tight colour range holds cost down. Our sourcing service covers the factory screening, the sample round and the inspections below.
What the material words mean in practice
Polycarbonate and ABS behave differently under the same baggage handler. Polycarbonate deforms and recovers, so a dented case usually springs back into shape. ABS resists small knocks but fails at the corners when the impact is hard, and a cracked corner ends the life of the case rather than denting it.
Weight is the second word buyers use loosely. Cabin limits are enforced by weight and by external dimensions together, and a case built to hit a size can gain a hundred grams in a thicker shell or a heavier trolley. The packed weight belongs on the order sheet, and weighing the bulk is how it is confirmed.
Finally, litres. Packing volume is measured with the case closed and the lining in place, and two cases of the same external size can differ substantially. The honest reference is a physical packing trial rather than a catalogue figure.
What belongs in the purchase order
One page attached to the PO is what protects the reorder. Cover these points:
- Shell material grade, finish and colour, referenced to an approved sample
- External dimensions and packed weight, both named
- Trolley stages, handle load rating and wheel type
- Zip grade and lock type, including any destination customs requirement
- Lining, dividers and straps, itemised
- A penalty clause if the bulk run differs from the approved sample
Inspection points that catch a weak lot
These checks find what a product photograph cannot:
- Press a shell. Push the side wall of a bulk case until it flexes and let go. A shell that stays dented is not the grade you were sold.
- Load the handle. Extend the trolley, load the case to its rated weight and push it across a hard floor.
- Roll every wheel. Spin each wheel by hand and listen. Wobble and squeak are audible before they are visible.
- Zip a packed case. Fill one bulk case to capacity and close it. The corner is where a weak zip splits.
- Weigh one. Compare the packed weight against the claim, because cabin limits are enforced in grams.
An independent inspection before loading catches all five at the cheapest point. Factory inspection covers this category, and the wider system is set out in our guide to pre shipment inspection.
Preguntas frecuentes
Should I buy hard shell or soft sided luggage?
Hard shell protects what is inside and photographs well; soft sided luggage absorbs knocks and gains outside pockets. Many buyers carry both, because the two answer different journeys. The decision belongs to your market rather than to the factory.
Can the shell be printed or branded?
Yes, within limits. Base colour is set by the moulding run, and a logo is applied by printing, hot stamping or a moulded plate. A logo on a curved panel wears differently from one on a flat panel, so the position is worth agreeing on the sample.
How should a trolley handle be checked before shipping?
Load it. A handle tested empty proves nothing, because the failure comes from the weight of a packed case at an angle. Extend the handle, load the case, walk it a hundred metres, then check the locking mechanism for play.
