Wholesale Baby Bodysuits from China
The bodysuit is the volume item of baby clothing: bought in packs, washed constantly, outgrown in months. Brands build entire lines on it because the silhouette is stable and the sizes run from newborn to two years, but the garment lives against newborn skin, which makes it one of the most regulated simple products in the trade.

Three failures repeat. The fabric shrinks one size after the first wash, because a mid weight cotton was finished loosely to save a step. Snaps pop off, which is a choking hazard and a recall, not a defect. Or the print cracks and flakes after five washes, which turns a five star product into a returns queue.
Every one of these is testable at the factory, and none is visible in a product photograph. The cluster context is in our wholesale baby products overview.
Fabric and construction
Bodysuit fabric is a single jersey knit, and the fibre and finishing decide everything. Combed cotton is smoother and stronger than carded; organic cotton carries a certification that must trace to the transaction certificate, not the hangtag. Weight in grams per square metre is the second number: light enough for summer, heavy enough to survive sixty wash cycles.
Construction details separate a good bodysuit from a cheap one: the neckline stretch that lets it pass over a head without snapping back loose, flat seams that do not press marks into skin, and the snap set, which is where safety law lives. Snap attachments are pull tested under the same standards that govern toys, because a loose snap is a small parts hazard.
Specifications and minimum order
Cotton prices move with the crop and the exchange rate, so live figures come with the quotation. Fix these points instead.
| Specification | What to confirm before you order |
|---|---|
| Fabric | Combed or carded, organic if claimed, weight in grams per square metre |
| Shrinkage | The wash shrinkage the factory holds, tested on the bulk fabric |
| Neckline | Envelop shoulder or snap placket, with the stretch recovery stated |
| Snaps | Attachment pull force to the applicable children’s product standard |
| Print or dye | Ink or dye family, and wash fastness grade |
| Labels | Care, fibre and tracking labels to the destination market’s rules |
| Pedido mínimo | Set by fabric dyeing batches; a colour per size curve usually needs a few hundred pieces |
Our minimum order is 1 piece, so a sample in your fabric and size curve is approved before any production commitment. The production minimum follows the dye batch, and we confirm the figure against your size and colour plan. Our sourcing service screens the sewing plants and knit mills.
Safety rules change by destination market
A bodysuit for the United States carries small parts and tracking label expectations that a European order does not, and the European order carries its own chemical restrictions on dyes and trims. The same factory can produce to either, but only when the requirement is written down before the fabric is knitted, because finishing choices are made at the mill.
This is the category where a compliance question asked late costs a whole production run. Our guide for US importers and our guide for EU buyers cover the two rule sets in detail.
What belongs in the purchase order
- Fabric specification with weight, fibre and any organic transaction certificate number
- Shrinkage tolerance tested on bulk fabric, not on the sample roll
- Snap attachment pull test to the destination market’s standard
- Wash fastness grade for every printed and dyed colourway
- Label set per destination market, placement included
- Packing: polybag warning print, fold method and carton limits
Checks that catch the repeat failures
- Wash test. Wash three bulk garments the way a parent would, hot and tumbled, then measure against the size chart.
- Snap pull. Pull test a sample of snaps from the bulk lot with a gauge; a snap that releases at low force is a recall in waiting.
- Seam and neck stretch. Pull the neckline over a form ten times and check recovery; a loose neck fails on the second wear.
- Print adhesion. Rub a printed panel and wash it once; flaking ink shows immediately.
- Measurement across the lot. Measure garments from different cartons; knit tolerance drift shows between cutting tables.
A pre shipment inspection catches all five points, and our factory inspection service covers garment plants as a category. Our inspection teams work to a written protocol per product family.
Preguntas frecuentes
Can I start with one size curve?
Yes, and most first orders do. The dye batch is the real minimum, so one colour across several sizes is cheaper than several colours in one size. Our minimum order is 1 piece for sampling; we work out the smallest workable production run against your colour plan.
Is organic cotton worth the paperwork?
For a brand that wants the claim, yes, but the claim is only as strong as the transaction certificate that traces the fabric. Without the certificate the word organic on a hangtag is a liability in some markets. We only set up organic runs where the paperwork closes.
What is the usual defect on a bad order?
Shrinkage. It passes every factory inspection of the unwashed garment and appears on the customer’s first wash. That is why the shrinkage clause is tested on bulk fabric and written with a number, not a word.
