Wholesale LED Headlight Bulb Pairs from China
The LED headlight bulb is the aftermarket’s electrical upgrade of the decade, and its quality question is not brightness but geometry: a light emitting chip needs to sit where the halogen filament sat, or the reflector throws glare instead of light. The category’s returns story is written by beam pattern and heat, not by lumens.

The failures: beam patterns that scatter because the chip position is off, drivers and chips that cook because the heat sink was plastic pretending to be metal, and radio interference from cheap drivers that make the owner’s AM radio buzz.
All three are testable on a bench. The category context is in our wholesale auto parts overview.
Chip position, cooling and the driver
The chip stack must reproduce the filament’s light centre, and the tolerance there is what separates a clean beam from glare. Cooling is the second engineering axis: copper braid or aluminium heat sinks pull heat away from the chip, fans add noise and a failure point, and the thermal design decides lumen maintenance over months.
The driver is the electronic heart, and its quality shows as flicker, radio noise and early failure. Canbus compatibility, the bulb playing nicely with the car’s bulb out detection, is a firmware and load question that varies by vehicle family, and it belongs on the application list.
Specifications and minimum order
Chip and driver prices move with component markets, so live figures come with the quotation. Fix these points.
| Specification | What to confirm before you order |
|---|---|
| Chip | Emitter grade named, with the light centre tolerance stated |
| Cooling | Copper braid or aluminium, fan or passive, thermal spec |
| Beam pattern | Pattern test standard in a reflector housing |
| Driver | Flicker and interference behaviour, and the canbus list |
| Fitting | Base types covered: H series and 9000 series, per application |
| Compliance | Aftermarket lighting rules for your market, named |
| Pedido mínimo | Hundreds per base type in practice; certification sets the floor per model |
Our minimum order is 1 piece, so a bench tested, beam patterned sample is approved before any production commitment. The production minimum follows the base type and certification, and we confirm it in writing. Our sourcing service screens the electronics plants that engineer thermal design, not just assemble shells.
Beam pattern is the honest test
A bulb in a real reflector housing, aimed at a wall with a cut off line, answers in thirty seconds what no datasheet does: whether the light lands where the halogen landed. Glare above the cut off line is the defect that generates complaints and, in some markets, legal exposure.
Thermal endurance is the second bench test: run the bulbs at full power and watch the base temperature; the cooling design either holds or it does not. Our quality assurance service writes both tests into the order.
What belongs in the purchase order
- Emitter grade with the light centre tolerance
- Cooling design named, with the thermal endurance standard
- Beam pattern test standard in a reference housing
- Driver behaviour: flicker, interference and the canbus list
- Base types and the application coverage
- Compliance and box labelling for your market
Checks that catch the repeat failures
- Beam pattern test. Aim bulk pairs in a reference housing and photograph the cut off line; glare shows instantly.
- Thermal soak. Run bulk bulbs at full power for an hour and measure the base; the cooling design is a number.
- Flicker and radio test. Power bulk units and listen for interference; cheap drivers announce themselves.
- Canbus check. Test against the vehicle families on your application list.
- Fit verification. Seat bulk bulbs in the housing; a bulb that will not lock or sits proud fails at installation.
These checks are standard work in a pre shipment inspection, and our factory inspection service covers automotive electronics plants. For the fuller method, see our pre shipment inspection guide.
Preguntas frecuentes
Why do some LED bulbs blind oncoming traffic?
Light centre geometry. If the chip stack does not sit where the filament sat, the reflector throws light upward through the cut off line. The beam pattern test in a reference housing catches it before the customer does.
Fan or fanless cooling?
Fans move more air and add a moving part and noise; passive copper and aluminium designs are silent and depend on thermal mass. Both work when engineered; neither works when faked. Our minimum order is 1 piece for sampling either design.
What is canbus compatibility?
The car’s bulb monitoring circuit expecting the load of a halogen, and the LED needing to answer correctly or the dash shows an error. It is a driver and firmware property that varies by vehicle family, so it lives on the application list, not in the marketing copy.
