Wholesale Human Hair Bundles from China

A bundle is the raw material of the hair trade. Braiding studios, salons and private-label brands buy them by the dozen and turn them into installs, extensions and wigs. It is also one of the few categories where a buyer can approve a sample and still receive something different at bulk: lighter, shorter, or blended with fibre and invoiced as human hair.

We have sourced hair products out of Xuchang and Guangzhou for five years. The same three failures keep coming back. Origin gets mixed between bundles in one lot. Density gets inflated on the invoice. A cheaper grade quietly replaces the one approved on the first order. None of it is visible in a product photograph.

This page covers what bundles cost out of China, how the grade words translate into price, and the checks that catch a substitution before the goods leave the factory. The wider cluster picture sits in our wholesale wigs overview.

Bundles, closures and frontals: what you are buying

A bundle is a length of hair sewn into a weft and sold by length and weight. It is the volume material. A closure is a small lace or silk piece that closes the top of an install. A frontal covers the hairline from ear to ear and takes more lace work. Most orders run one closure or frontal to every three or four bundles.

The three are judged on different things. A bundle is checked on weight, length and whether the cuticle runs in one direction. A closure is checked on lace gauge, knot density and how the knots take bleach. Buying all three from one factory on one hair lot is what keeps colour consistent across a finished install.

Specifications and minimum order

Our minimum order is 1 piece, so you can start with a single unit and scale up once the sample is approved. What a bundle costs comes down to four variables: length, origin, density and how the cuticle was treated. Raw hair supply and the exchange rate move the number again every few months, and production schedules shift with the factory’s booking book. We do not print prices or lead times on this page because both would be stale by the time you read them. Tell us the length, density and quantity you need, and we come back with a live quotation and a firm schedule from the factory.

Specification What to confirm before you order
Length 12 to 20 inch is the working range; state whether it is measured straight or stretched
Grade Remy, virgin or raw, with the term defined in the contract rather than assumed
Density The percentage the factory is filling to, and the tolerance you will accept
Origin Named by country or region, not simply “human hair”
Cuticle state Untreated, or acid washed, which is the cheapest route and tangles fastest
Bundle weight Weight per bundle, because length by itself does not tell you how much hair you get
Pedido mínimo Low by China standards in this category: a few dozen pieces is enough for a factory to run a dye batch for you

Length is the strongest single lever on cost, because hair past a certain length comes from fewer donors. Origin sits second, with European and Indian temple hair well above bulk Chinese hair. Density and the processing method account for the rest. Two orders with the same description and the same length can sit far apart in price, and the difference is almost always one of those four variables.

Minimums here stay workable for a first order, which is unusual in hair. A small run is enough to judge a factory before you commit to a container. Our sourcing service covers the factory screening, sample coordination and inspections set out below.

How the grade words translate into price

Remy, virgin and raw describe three different properties, and suppliers use the words loosely.

Density is quoted as a percentage against a baseline, with 130%, 150% and 180% as the usual steps. The figure describes how much hair is packed into the weft, not how long the hair is. A 180% bundle sold at a 130% price is the single most common substitution in the category.

Acid washing is the hidden variable. Acid strips the cuticle so cheap hair looks smooth during sampling, and the same hair tangles after a handful of washes at the end customer. Ask the factory to state on the invoice whether the hair is acid washed, and treat a refusal as an answer.

What belongs in the purchase order

A one-page specification attached to every PO is what protects the reorder. Cover these points:

Inspection points that catch a switch

A visual check will not find any of the problems that matter here. These will:

An independent inspection in Xuchang and a cuticle test on a bulk lot both cost a small fraction of what a rejected container costs, and either one is worth arranging before the goods are loaded. Factory inspection covers this category, and our guide to the hairpiece clusters explains how Xuchang, Qingdao and Dongguan differ. Preguntas frecuentes

How many bundles do I need for one wig?

It depends on the length and the density you want. Short lengths need fewer bundles because each one covers more of the cap; long lengths need more because the hair thins as it hangs. The reliable way to fix a number is to have the factory build one finished unit from your specification and count what went into it. That sample answers the question for the whole production run.

Can I mix lengths in one order?

Yes, and most buyers do, because a natural install uses two or three lengths. Keep the mix inside one dye lot so the colour matches, and put the length breakdown on the PO rather than in an email thread. Mixing lengths from different lots is how a set ends up visibly two-toned under salon lighting.

What is the smallest order you can place?

Stock styles in human hair start small enough to judge a factory properly, which is rare in Chinese manufacturing. Custom cap construction, custom colour or a bespoke density raises the minimum, because the factory has to set up a dye batch for you alone. Ask for the factory’s own figure against the exact specification you want, since it moves with the batch.
