Wholesale Compact Mirrors from China

A compact mirror is a small item with two parts that decide whether it survives daily life: the reflective surface and the hinge. The case is what sells it, but the hinge is what makes it a product rather than a novelty, and it is the part that fails first.

We have sourced compacts and palm mirrors out of the Guangdong and Zhejiang clusters for years. Three failures repeat. A mirror sold with a described coating arrives with a thinner one that shows grey rather than true colour. A hinge that felt crisp on the sample loosens within weeks and stops holding the case open. And a closing action tuned for the sample arrives too tight or too loose once the case wall thickness drifts.

This page covers what the mirror and hinge words mean, what belongs on the order sheet, and the checks that catch a weak lot. The supply base behind the category is in our wholesale beauty and cosmetics overview.

Mirror coating, hinge and case

The mirror is a coated glass, and the coating decides how the reflection looks. Aluminium and silver coatings differ in colour rendering and in how they age, and a thin coating on the same glass reads dimmer and greyer. Reflectance is the specification, and it is checked on the bulk by comparing one mirror against another under the same light.

The hinge is a mechanical joint and is judged by life rather than by appearance. A compact is opened and closed many times, and the hinge has to hold the lid at an angle without going slack. A hinge that holds on the sample but loosens on the bulk has usually lost wall thickness in the case.

The case carries both. Its material and finish decide the look, its wall thickness decides the hinge seat, and its opening force is tuned by a small spring or detent. All three are set by the mould, so they move together when a moulder works to a tighter price.

Specifications and minimum order

Our minimum order is 1 piece, so you can start with a single unit and scale up once the sample is approved. Every line below changes what the factory produces. We do not print prices or schedules here, because moulding and coating inputs move; send the shape, the mirror type and the quantity, and we come back with a live quotation and a firm production slot.

Specification What to confirm before you order
Mirror coating the coating type and the reflectance expected, checked side by side
Glass thickness and edge treatment, since a rough edge arrives in transit
Magnification where a second face is fitted, and the magnification of each face
Hinge type, the life it must survive and the angle it must hold
Opening force how hard the case is to open, checked on a batch rather than one unit
Case finish material, colour and how a printed or plated logo adheres
Minimum order stated per shape and per colour, since cases are moulded and coated in runs

Minimums in compacts are driven by the case mould and the coating run, so a single shape across a small colour range holds cost down. Our sourcing service covers the factory screening, the sample round and the inspections below.

What the mirror words mean in practice

Brightness and distortion are separate properties and buyers conflate them. A mirror can be bright and still distort, and distortion comes from the glass rather than the coating. A straight edge held against the surface, or a look at a straight line in the reflection, shows it quickly.

Magnification is a specification with a purpose. A single magnification suits a general compact, while a two sided unit pairs a true view with a magnified face for detail work. Where both are fitted, the assembly order matters, because the magnified face is only useful if it is the one that opens toward the user.

Glue is the quiet failure in this category. The mirror is fixed into the case with an adhesive, and a bond that lifts at one corner is a complaint that arrives with a photograph. A warm soak and a gentle pry on a bulk unit is the practical test.

What belongs in the purchase order

Inspection points that catch a weak lot

These checks find what a product photograph cannot:

An independent inspection before loading catches all five at the cheapest point. Factory inspection covers this category, and the wider system is set out in our guide to the sample versus bulk gap.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between aluminium and silver coatings?

They render colour differently and age differently. Silver gives a neutral, true reflection and needs a protective layer; aluminium is durable and reads slightly cooler. The practical test is to stand two mirrors under the same light and compare, rather than to choose from a description.

How many cycles should a compact hinge survive?

Agree a number and hold it as a requirement, because the hinge is the failure point of the product. The test is simple to run at inspection: work a bulk unit repeatedly and check that the lid still holds its angle rather than going slack.

Should I choose a plastic or a metal case?

It depends on the price point and the feel you want in the hand. A metal case gives weight and a premium finish and costs more; a moulded case allows a wider range of shapes and colours and suits volume ranges. Both depend on the hinge seat being designed properly.
