How We Managed 100+ Pet Product Styles Across 69 Factories

A real China pet product sourcing case study: how a Colombian buyer ordered 100+ pet product styles from 69 factories, consolidated into one shipment.

Client Background

Our client is a pet products buyer from Colombia who had previously worked with another supplier.

The client was looking for a more responsive and reliable China sourcing partner who could manage a large number of products from different manufacturers — in practice, a single point of contact for pet product sourcing from China.

After understanding the client’s requirements, Select Trade took responsibility for sourcing, supplier coordination, product checking, consolidation, and shipment preparation.

The Challenge: More Than 100 Product Styles

The client needed a wide variety of pet products rather than a large quantity of a single product.

This created several sourcing challenges:

• A large number of product styles
• Different product specifications and availability
• Different factories for different products
• Small quantities for many individual items

Our China Sourcing Process

1. Sourcing From Hundreds of Factories

Because the product range was extensive, we assigned two purchasing specialists to the project.

Together, they researched and screened nearly 300 factories to identify suitable products and suppliers.

Instead of simply selecting the first available supplier, we compared products, prices, availability, and supplier suitability.

2. Seven Product Catalogs

After the initial sourcing process, we organized the potential products into 7 catalogs for the client to review.

The client selected more than 100 product styles.

The quantities varied by product, with some items requiring only dozens of pieces and others around 100 pieces.

3. Stock Verification and Alternative Products

Before finalizing the order, we contacted the relevant manufacturers to confirm product availability.

When a selected item was out of stock, we did not simply remove it from the order.

We searched for similar alternatives and presented them to the client for approval.

This allowed the client to maintain a broader product selection while reducing unnecessary delays.

Managing 69 Factories

After several rounds of communication and product confirmation, the final order involved 69 different factories.

After payment, we closely followed each supplier’s production and delivery schedule to make sure the products arrived at our warehouse as planned.

Quality Checking and Consolidation

When the products arrived at our consolidation warehouse, our warehouse team received and checked the goods.

Instead of the client having to coordinate dozens of individual suppliers, the products were brought together and prepared as one consolidated shipment.

The Result

The client successfully completed a highly diversified pet product order involving:

• Nearly 300 factories researched
• 7 product catalogs
• 100+ product styles selected
• 69 factories involved

The project was successfully completed through centralized supplier communication, stock verification, warehouse consolidation, and shipment coordination.
