Product Photography for Amazon and Retail Listings
A listing lives or dies on its main image. Buyers scroll past a photograph taken on a desk and stop at one where the product is lit, framed and obviously real. Most sourcing agents hand you a sample and leave the photography to you.
We shoot the goods ourselves. The advantage is that the product is already in our hands for inspection, so the shoot happens around the same shipment instead of samples travelling back and forth for photographs.
What we shoot
- Main images on a pure white background, framed to the rules the major marketplaces enforce
- Detail shots: stitching, texture, finish, hardware and closures, the parts a buyer wants to inspect before ordering
- Lifestyle and scene shots set to the price point the product is being sold at
- Model shots for apparel, wigs and wearables, lit and styled consistently across a range
- Scale shots with the product in hand or beside a familiar object, which reduce returns
- Short video for the listings that accept it, including demonstration and rotation clips
- Imagery for A+ modules and comparison panels, built from the same shoot
- Shoots for any of the twelve product categories we source, from wigs to furniture
How a shoot runs
- You send the listings you want to compete with and the platform you sell on
- We agree the shot list: how many angles, which details, and whether models are needed
- The goods are photographed after inspection and before they are packed for shipment
- Retouched files are delivered in full resolution and in the sizes and formats the platform accepts
What you get
- Retouched files in full resolution and in platform ready crops
- One consistent look across a range, so several products read as a single brand
- Files named and organised so an upload does not become a sorting job
- Imagery planned alongside the packaging and artwork, so the label in the photograph is the label that ships
- The unused angles kept on file, so a new crop does not need a new shoot
The rules we shoot to
Main images usually have to sit on a pure white background with the product filling most of the frame and no added text, logos or watermarks. Some categories add their own rules on props and packaging. We shoot to those requirements first and treat the creative images as a second set, so nothing has to be reshot after a listing is rejected.
Frequently asked questions
Can you photograph a product you did not source?
Yes, provided the goods can be sent to us in Guangzhou. We photograph what we are given, and we check it against any specification you send, but we cannot inspect a product we have never received.
Who arranges the models and the set?
For apparel, wigs, bags and wearables we arrange the model and the set as part of the shoot. You approve the model and the styling before the day of the shoot.
How many images should I order?
Enough to cover the main image, every feature you intend to claim in the listing, and one scale shot. We will also point out which of your planned shots repeat each other, because paying twice for the same angle helps nobody.
Request a shoot
Send the product, the platform and the reference listings. We come back with a shot list and what it covers.
