The spin mechanism is the product
Two mechanisms dominate: a foot pedal driving a gearbox, and a push pump where the pole stroke spins the head. Pedal units spin drier and break gearboxes; push units have fewer parts and break drive couplings. Neither design is wrong, but the failure mode is different and your inspection has to look for the right thing.
The basket is the second stress point: a thin centrifugal basket cracks at the collar after a season of off-centre loads. Confirm the basket runs true with a wet head at speed, not just that it spins dry with nothing in it.

Refill heads are the margin
